Virtual Computing
The cloud is here to stay so we will help you use it to your advantage.
The definition of Virtual computing is basically moving your current server and running it in the “cloud”. In the last 8-10 years, companies have been moving to this new and better way to run all kinds of applications in the cloud to allow themselves and employees to be able to work from anywhere with an Internet connection.
There are multiple advantages to moving your main server to the cloud.
When you have a local server, you must worry about hardware failure and what the down time will cost the company. Next you must worry about network security since most small and medium businesses don’t have the budget to buy really high-end firewalls and with a remote workforce which is very common now a days, you have to worry about allowing them to remote into your local network.
Here are a few more advantages…
Security – When you have another company like Amazon hosting your server, they spend millions of dollars every year to protect your data, not a few thousand dollars (which is around the cost of a decent small office firewall)
Flexibility – All cloud hosting solutions allow you to shut down the server and add more resources like ram and hard drive space so gone are the days of ever running out of space and having to replace a hard drive server.
Backups – It is much easier and quicker to take a backup snapshot and store it on their servers and shoot it off site to another company.
Savings – You will have very minor upfront costs and even though you will be paying a monthly fee, once you break it down over 5 years versus the initial hardware install and support after the install, your average monthly cost will be lower.
These are just a few of the advantages. The new world has moved into the cloud and it is definitely here to stay.
